So Many Tools!

I love creative software tools. Not like. LOVE. When I started with Director in 1993 I used Photoshop, Illustrator and Alias Sketch! to build my digital portfolio and taught myself each one. It was an exhilarating experience reading books, manuals and pure trial & error. This is something I just do with new software. I read about it, play with it and bang my head against the proverbial virtual wall until I learn it. I’ve done it with Flash & ActionScript, browsers and HTML/XML/JavaScript and a plethora of programming languages and software tools.

It’s always best to have a project to focus on and so I’m designing and building a Kodaly music app for my wife’s music students called ‘Solfege’. My primary goal is to make an educational app that she can use with her students to help them focus on their do, re, mi’s and refine their listening & note recognition all using the Kodaly methods. My tertiary goal is to learn more Unity 2017.1, Cinema4D R18 and get WAY better at C#. I also get to play around in GarageBand to create midi notes as well as AfterEffects for more visual animation pizazz.

I learned long ago that software packages are just platforms for traditionally honed skills and transferring from one to another was only shocking for the first few minutes (maybe hours…OK, sometimes days!). Here we go again!
